The Pike County Commissioners recently issued a resolution
declaring Pike County's celebration of National Volunteer Week. The resolution publicly acknowledged and expressed
gratitude to all Pike County volunteers and recognized that they have benefited the community through their generously
donated time and efforts. Also, the United Way of Pike County presented the commissioners with the Honor Roll of
Volunteers, which is a list of all the Pike County volunteers that the UWPC can currently identify.
Commissioner Richard Caridi said, "We are very happy to salute Pike County volunteers. They are an important
part of this community and make it a better place for all of us to enjoy." UWPC President Christine Obser
added, "The United Way of Pike County is very pleased to have the support of the Pike County Commissioners
in this effort to recognize and thank our community's volunteers. We are very grateful for all their hard work
and selflessness."
This year National Volunteer Week is April 27, 2008 - May 3, 2008, and as part of the celebration, the UWPC distributed
commemorative red "V" ribbons to all organizations that submitted names. The ribbons were made by volunteers
from the New Vision Clubhouse and the UWPC. When you see someone wearing a ribbon or see a friend's name in the
Honor Roll of Volunteers, please offer them your thanks!
